Introduction

The role of the governing body is to support and challenge the school in its efforts to improve the learning experiences and the progress of its pupils. We do this by:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  2. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

The Governing Body is part of the senior leadership team of the school and works closely with the headteacher and senior teachers. Some governors are appointed:  Local Authority, Co-opted  and Associate and some are elected: Parent and Staff. Please select "Governors", "Meet our Governors" to find out more about our Governors.

Like most governing bodies of schools we use a committee structure to undertake our monitoring and evaluation roles. Membership of these groups and their terms of reference are determined annually. The chair for each committee is elected by its members. Please select "Governors", "Committees and Meetings" to find out about each committee.
