Local Governing Body
Our governors contribute to the work of the governing body in ensuring high standards of achievement for all children in the school. Richmond governors do this by:
- Working with staff and children to set the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
To achieve these goals governors meet to discuss, challenge and support the school and its staff. Governors meet regularly, as a whole group, or in smaller sub committees, to focus on particular areas of the school, including:
- Curriculum
- Finance, Audit and Risk
- Health and Safety
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
- Pay and Performance
Our current Co-Chairs of the Governing Body are: Pete Mattock and Liz Read.
As a way of getting to know about the school, each governor is attached to a particular class, which they follow through the school, thus getting to know the children and witnessing first hand their progress. Every governor is also linked to a subject area, and meets with the subject coordinator a couple of times per year to look at action plans and discuss progress.
